I think it would depend on how many dishes are washed, how many pots, and so forth. I think I save a lot by washing by hand, at least on electricity. I'm not sure about the water part. The first two times I used it, there was a filmy white residue left on my bowls, curved glasses and spoons. Anything with a curveture to it apparently did not rinse off the soap as quickly and left this residue on it that was difficult to wash or rub off. I will be going back to some other brand of soap.
