Target(R) launches Dror(TM) for Target, an exclusive limited-edition collection that includes bedding, decorative accessories and stationery. Target is committed to enlisting fresh and new designers that create stylish yet affordable products for every room in the home. Dror Benshetrit, known for his multi-functional design, will bring his space-saving innovations to his new limited-edition collection for Target.

Dror for Target features a variety of products, including comforters, quilts, sheets and tapestries in elegant shades of brown, raspberry, plum and aqua with textures and patterns that are destined for mixing and matching. The decorative accessories selection includes removable wall decals, a clock, lamps, a side table and a nesting bookcase. Stationery items include file folders, sketchbook and mini composition books that are emblazoned with modern graphics. Many products collapse, fold away or serve multiple functions, making them ideal for city dwellers, college students or anyone looking to maximize space on a tight budget.

“Target continues to provide smart living storage solutions that add graphic appeal to the home,” said Gina Sprenger, senior vice president of Merchandising, Target. “The Dror for Target collection is another example of how Target delivers on our brand promise, Expect More. Pay Less.”

Benshetrit established his multidisciplinary design practice, Dror, in 2002 with the intent of “bringing poetry to function.” Benshetrit is known for creating functional objects that are enhanced by an artist’s eye. His designs are intuitive, easy to use and imbued with a lighthearted spirit that brings an element of joy to everyday tasks.

“I design all of my work to evoke emotion and inspire well being,” said Benshetrit. “Not only are these products wonderfully practical, they’re engineered to create a spark of energy in the lives of their owners.”

The collection ranges in price from $0.99 for mini composition books to $89.99 for the nesting bookshelf. Benshetrit’s goal in creating this collection for Target is to help guests organize more with less by emphasizing the concepts of utility and multi-function. The products work in a variety of room settings, from home offices to bedrooms, and many perform more than one task. Bookcases can be stacked and grouped for unlimited storage options, and each four-shelf unit can disassemble into a compact bundle for easy transport. And textured and patterned quilts and throw pillows are double-sided, providing twice the decorating power.

Because of the current economic times, more of us are spending more time at home. The following are tips to help you improve the ambience of your home and to have it be a reflection of you.

Enhance Lifestyle, Boost Seasonal Mood with Smart Updates to Home and Office

Beat the economic-downturn blues with three design tips from leading international designer Lauren Rottet to make spaces inspiring and personal.

The interiors we live in have a powerful impact on our mood and well-being, particularly in winter when we spend more time indoors. Despite today’s challenging economy – and perhaps because of it – improving the ambiance of our homes and offices is a simple way to fight the doldrums and boost morale.

Internationally renowned architect and designer Lauren Rottet, FAIA (www.rottetstudio.com), says simple design elements such as natural light and architectural style can contribute to a place’s positive atmosphere, improving one’s state-of-mind and overall lifestyle. Although Rottet designs prestigious buildings and interiors around the globe, her easy tips can make any work or living space a personal sanctuary – without breaking the bank.

Embrace architectural style

A space’s intrinsic architectural features serve as an interior design roadmap, reflecting regional style, climate, culture and way of life. Rottet encourages letting the building’s structure and design details dominate, creating authentic ambiance.

For Georgian Colonial architecture, for example, accentuate the formal ambiance of prominent fireplace mantles and decorative columns. With Mediterranean architecture, let courtyards and arched doorways and windows brings indoors and outdoors together.

“Style is the inherent personality and natural context for individual decorating expression,” says Rottet. “Highlight the features of your space and embrace its architecture.”

Enhance natural light and view

Sunlight and outdoor views are vital for successful interiors – and practically free.

“Natural light makes any personal space feel warm and comfortable,” says Rottet. “And by making outdoor views part of the interior composition, we instantly add dimension to a room.”

Whether windows are large or small, with southern or northern exposure, light and views can be dramatically altered through shading, drapes and other window treatments.

Feature art and self-expression

Interiors are an opportunity to express personal style.

This can be as simple as deliberate placement of personally selected objects – paintings, lamps or memorabilia – transforming the space into something unmistakably one’s own.

“This is the most important design message,” says Rottet. “When a space feels personal, it generates positive feelings for those within – which means a lot in these trying times.

New today from Space Bag is an easier to access, three compartment, vacuum bag. To be released in the next few weeks at Target and WalMart (soon at other retailers) The price is about $13 US.

In a recent study, consumers were asked, “What is the biggest challenge to improving your home’s organization”? – The top two answers were: Lack of space in the home (43%), and Too much stuff (25%). The new Space Bag® 3 Pocket Organizer™ helps solve both problems. It’s especially effective for organizing and compressing items together like entire bedding sets – comforters, sheets, & pillows, or even seasonal decorations, crafts and collectibles.

The jumbo-sized 3 Pocket Organizer (39.25″ x 47.75″), utilizes internal dividers that separate clothing and bedding inside the bag, yet all three pockets can be vacuum-sealed simultaneously. This is accomplished using an ordinary home vacuum cleaner to evacuate air through the patented one-way valve. Contents compressed this way take up less than half their normal space.

Pocket 1 (39.25″ x 26″) is designed to store larger items like bedding and blankets, while Pockets 2 and 3 (each 19.25″ x 21.25″) are sized for shirts, sweaters, jackets, and even stuffed toys. In addition there are two separate zippers, one on each side of the bag, for easy access to all 3 pockets.

Contents vacuum-sealed in the 3 Pocket Organizer are protected from dirt, bugs, water, mildew and odors. This allows the Space Bag organizer to be stored in places like the garage, attic, basement or under the bed, which frees up valuable closet and drawer space. Once compressed, the organizer conveniently folds in half to minimize storage space further.

“No matter how large our home, all of us want to keep it organized and free of clutter”, says Betty Jamieson-Dunn, Director of Marketing for ITW Space Bag. “This is a basic need, and it will not diminish because of the current economic troubles. As consumers decrease spending on big ticket items, they will likely continue to buy affordable, high quality storage and organization solutions like the 3 Pocket Organizer.”

The Space Bag 3 Pocket Organizer retails for $12.99 and will be available in Target later this month. Wal-Mart and other retail chains will begin selling the product in the second quarter of 2009, just in time for spring cleaning.

About Space Bag:

Spring Cleaning in the Dead of Winter

Easy ways to clean the home and create more storage

Most people consider spring the perfect time to clean and organize the home, but since the cold February air forces people to spend more time indoors, why not spring clean during winter instead? If you can get your cleaning done now, then when the weather turns warm, you can actually go outside and enjoy it instead of going through boxes and organizing storage areas. Here are a few tips to help you spring clean in the middle of winter:

Reward yourself — Organizing the home can be tedious. To lower the bore factor, choose a few TV shows or CDs that you love and only let yourself watch or listen when you’re cleaning. That way, you’ll have an inherent reward built into these tasks and you may even find yourself looking forward to them.

Evaluate seasonal items — Much of your storage space is probably filled with things you only use a couple months out of the year. Take stock of these items and pare down — if you use the same three boxes of holiday decorations every year, don’t save the other two boxes you never open. Does your family really need six beach balls? You’d be surprised at the amount of storage space you can recover by tossing duplicate or excess items you never look at or may not know you have.

Make space outside — During warmer seasons, patio furniture, grilling equipment and outdoor toys can stay comfortably outside, but the winter cold and precipitation can really do them damage. To preserve outdoor accessories for warmer seasons to come, store them in an outdoor storage shed from Lifetime Products. These lockable, weather-resistant sheds will protect items from weather and intruders alike.

If it’s broke — If you’ve done a thorough cleaning, you’ve probably unearthed some broken items. The inclination may be to hang onto these things because, “I can fix that in two seconds,” but most people never actually do. If that sounds like you, place a sticky note with the date onto anything that you plan to fix. If that sticky note is still staring up at you from the broken item one month from now, you didn’t really need it anyway, so get rid of it.

One in, one out — If you’ve taken the time to really clean and organize your home, the last thing you want to do is stare at new piles of junk two months from now. If you have a tendency to hoard things, make a rule that for every new item you bring into your space, something else has to go. This will keep junk collection to a minimum and may even save you money, because if you’re not willing to part with something you can’t buy anything new.
